TY Retreat
Yesterday all the TY's went on our retreat to Maynooth collage. We took the bus at about half nine and arrived and settled at about 10. A man called Conor asked us all to but all the chairs in a circle so everyone could see eachother and him and the other 2 woman could introduce themselves to everyone. We started of by celebrating leap frog day by jumping into the air which i thought was very weird... but then we played this game that tested our strength and willingness to hold on. Orla,Amie,Sophie and I went in the middle. Our job was to pull people away from the people they were linked to. It was sooo hard! I was really tired by the end of the game but we went straight into a new game were Linda 'one of the leaders' would call out a number and we would have get into group with the number that called out.
After break we started talking about different topics. The one we had was what if your partner cheated on you went he went on holidays, would you want him to tell you and if the situation was turned would you tell him/her. One of the questions said which have it worse men or woman and for the rest of the retreat we all just debated that question. It was actually really interesting what people had to say and amazing what peoples opinions were, I never our year could get so deep haha.
It was overall great day and i really enjoyed it!

Selma
Today all the TY's went to vue cinema to watch a movie based on martin luther king jr's journey through selma to montgomery Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition. The epic march from Selma to Montgomery culminated in President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965, one of the most significant victories for the civil rights movement. Director Ava DuVernay's "Selma" tells the story of how the revered leader and visionary Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and his brothers and sisters in the movement prompted change that forever altered history.
when we arrived at the cinema we all ran to get popcorn and drinks etc. Im pretty sure we cleaned the place of all the popcorn.... so worth it! me and hannah shared a large popcorn and a drink 'my treat' and made our way into the film screen. everyone was so into the movie, many people cried but we all enjoyed it! i didnt think i would as much and change my opinion on the whole martin luther king history but it really did. im really glad i went to see it and the whole day was a nice break from everything(not like ty is hard or anything) but still, it was really nice of Ms. McHale to bring us!! #

Carlingford
The night before carlingford was so stressful because i had no idea what to bring... and all my food wouldnt fit in my bag, i almost cried! haha. once i had packed i tried to get some sleep but i was way to exited. the next morning i woke up at about 6 because we had to meet in esso at about 7 way to early if u ask me but it was worth it because it meant we had more time in carlingford. the bus journey was fun we just talked about what we did for the weekend. after 2 hours we arrived at the centre we all met in the volleyball court for a meeting and a sign everyone rooms. all 8 of us manged to stay in the same room.
Our first activity was canoeing well all got changed and were on our way. there was about 12 in one kayak. we paddled all the way out to a rocky beach where there was a waterfall that would give you an extra day onto your life, but before we got there we walked up to it and on the way hannah stepped on a jellyfish it was soo funny! after everyone added a day to their life our kayak paddled over to the trampoline and we jumped on. we all paddled back to the beach we went for lunch the food was ok i guess.
After we all ate we went to a activity courses for team building. we all got into groups and started with a really fustrating challenge. lets just say from then on we werent all the best of friends haha! but we then did the maze which was pitch dark, couldnt see anything! gemma started out infront then i was behind her but that didnt last long because without anyone knowing all of a sudden amy was infront i had no idea where gemma had gone and then hannah scared me so much because she just apearred behind me out of no where. by this time we were lost but what really made the whole thing so funny was when amy had no idea there was a drop infront of her and fell half way down it with her legs just in the air i actually got such a fright i thought the poor child was after dieing or something but as i was calling her name all u could hear is a little laugh and we then knew she was fine so we pulled here up, what an idiot hahaha once we all made it out 'alive' we went on to finish our team building.
that night we all gathered at the volleyball courts again to find out what we were doing next. it turns out we were doing a thing called night line which was really scary but a lot of fun! the worst bit about it was that we had to walk up a hill to get there and it took some serious effort! but it was alot of fun. when we came back from the night line we all had so much energy, some of the girls got a chinese, but me and hannah went to get a chipper but didnt end up getting anything. we desided to go up and see where everyone is when we got there there was a lot of people. we waited ages for amys food but while we were waiting we decided to show Ms O'Callaghan the video to anaconda because we had been singing it the WHOLE day and well she wasnt very impressed but well all had a laugh at it even ms did, to top it all of in the middle of watching the video along came shauna. she ran straight into the wind making a loud bang, when all realised it was her we were in stitches laughin, it was so funny! after amy got her food amy shauna was ok we all headed back to were there was a disco on which was kinda bad at the start but gradually got better. it all started when anaconda came on and oh my god gemma and amy were going crazy! i couldnt stop laughing because i could see that Ms Leonard and Ms O' Callaghan were watching them and they were laughing too. that song came on a good few times and we went crazy every time.
when we all eventually got back to our rooms it didnt take long before everyone started to eat their food and for amy to fall asleep followed by hannah, amy h,aoife tyhen beth. which left orla, gemma and me. but after a while gemma feel asleep. no one could hear her anyways haha ,the poor thing had a really bad sore throat. orla and i stayed up a good bit after but we keeped walking up amy jackson and oh wow was she grumpy but it was so funny. to top the whole night off in the middle of a conversation all we could hear is aoife letting out this huge fart hahaha she was asleep and all.
the next morning was tiring but we all manged to go for breakfast. we then went on to doing some more kayaking which was really fun because when we went out to the trampoline again me and amy did a front flip at the same time. we have so much skill haha but it hurt like hell, so worth it though.
my favourite part of the trip was when we went laser tag. we all got to shot eachother. on the very last game i got really into it and all of a sudden i was being shot alot, when i died i got up to look at who was shutting me all i could see is Sarah McEvoy dancing and laughing at me,. she killed me for the 10th time and she was dead proud of herself too! i'll get you back one day sarah!
when it was finally time to go home we all slept on the bus but thats a sign that we all had an amazing time at Carlingford.

My first week in TY
TY so far has been going well but it is different to what i thought TY would be like. In the first week in TY i have done may different things that i havent really done in the past years in St.Wlostans such as many presentation and projects, alway we have work shops every wednesday. So far we have only had one which i thought was rather interesting and i have never really done before which is one of the reasons i liked it.
In the work shop we did this 'postive party' i didnt fully understand the point behind it but as it went on i started to really enjoy and learn many things from it that were of course postive, which is always a good thing!
we also did a first aid class, I found it extremly interesting and really accentual to know. I learned so many important things that i think u should for every day life and it was fun to learn because the man (Gary) who was speaking to us didnt just do a boring slide show or just told us about first aid, he showed us in a practical way, with a dummy and videos. i thought way quite interesting!
Finally we had a etiquette class, it was deffinattly different, we had to bring in our own pair of heels for the class because we were going to learn how to properly walk in them, which was probably a good idea. after we were thought how to walk proper and stand up straight in a mannerly way we then went onto wearing the heels and practising walking in them proper, surprisingly i could actually stand with them on. After we were finished with that we returned back to the classroom we began to learn about hygiene and different types of bras and under wear, it was interesting but we all got a good out of it too.
